Who We Are

Smart Hub Gear is a small, independent wooden toy store based in Stoke-on-trent. Every toy we sell is handmade by hand in our home workshop and shipped directly to you across the United Kingdom.

There is no warehouse, no production line, and no middleman. What you order is made, checked, packed, and sent by the same pair of hands that built it.

Our Story

Smart Hub Gear grew out of something simple — a passion for woodworking and a belief that children deserve better than plastic.

Long before this store existed, we were making wooden toys at home. What started as something personal, made for family and gifted to people close to us, gradually found a wider audience. Friends asked where the toys came from. Word spread locally. Orders followed. Over time it became clear that what we were making had real value — not just to us, but to parents who were actively looking for something more considered than what the high street tends to offer.

That is when Smart Hub Gear became a proper store. The craft was already there. The decision was simply to share it more widely.

Why Wooden Toys

We are firm believers that the toys children grow up with matter. Wooden toys encourage imagination, support early development, and build a connection to the physical world that plastic simply cannot replicate. They have texture, weight, and a warmth to them that children respond to naturally.

They also last. A well-made wooden toy can be passed from one child to the next, kept for years, and still look and feel the way it did on the day it arrived. That durability is something we are proud of and something we design for from the very beginning.

Sustainability sits at the heart of everything we do. All materials used in our toys are natural and non-toxic. We do not use plastic components or synthetic finishes. Every piece is made from real wood, finished to a standard that is safe for children from the moment it leaves our workshop.

How We Work

Everything is made to order in our workshop in Stoke-on-trent. Each toy is shaped, sanded, and finished by hand before being carefully packed and dispatched via Royal Mail Tracked 48. We ship free of charge to anywhere in the United Kingdom, Monday to Saturday, with same-day processing for orders placed before 6:00 PM.

Before anything leaves us, it is checked. If it does not meet our standard, it does not go out. That is not a policy — it is just how we have always worked.

When you order from Smart Hub Gear, you are not dealing with a call centre or an automated system. You are dealing with the people who made your order. We respond to every enquiry within 24 hours, Monday to Saturday, and we take pride in making sure every customer is looked after properly.
